- Evidence in Health and Social Care (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence)
The principle aim of the NHS Evidence service is to provide easy access to a comprehensive evidence base for everyone in health and social care who takes decisions about treatments or the use of resources – including clinicians, public health professionals, commissioners and service managers – thus improving health and patient care. It will build on NICE’s significant international reputation for developing high quality evidence-based guidance. It provides access to a range of information types, including primary research literature, practical implementation tools, guidelines and policy documents. - Centre for Reviews & Dissemination (CRD, The National Institute for Health Research): Database
CRD undertakes systematic reviews evaluating the research evidence on health and public health questions of national and international importance. The findings of CRD reviews are widely disseminated and have impacted on health care policy and practice, both in the UK and internationally. We produce the DARE, NHS EED and HTA databases which are used extensively by health professionals, policy makers and researchers around the world. We also undertake methods research and produce internationally accepted guidelines for undertaking systematic reviews. The Centre's role in developing research evidence to support decision making in policy and practice was highlighted in the 2006 Government national research strategy Best Research for Best Health. In addition, CRD was recognised by the Lancet (2006) as part of NHS R&D's most important contribution to the UK science base, namely building systematic review capacity and promulgating systematic reviews as a global public good. - health-evidence.ca - Promoting evidence-informed decision making: Database
Through this site, you can locate references to systematic reviews and meta-analyses, gathered through a comprehensive search of electronic databases, journal tables of contents, and reference lists. All reviews in this online registry have been screened for relevance to public health, and appraised for quality. Users can see whether reviews are strong, moderate or weak. We are also working to provide summary statements for each of the reviews in the registry. A summary statement is a short (2 page) synopsis of the review’s content, highlighting key evidence points and implications for practice and policy. - Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews
The Cochrane Library is a collection of databases that contain high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making. Cochrane reviews represent the highest level of evidence on which to base clinical treatment decisions. In addition to Cochrane reviews, The Cochrane Library provides other sources of reliable information, from other systematic review abstracts, technology assessments, economic evaluations and individual clinical trials – all the current evidence in one single environment.
